Money X carries out the charity programme “Bringing Love to the Highlands”.
Continuing Vietnam’s tradition of mutual support ahead of the 2023 Lunar New Year, on 20 and 21 November, Money X and its sponsors visited and delivered gifts to Sa De Phin and Ta Ngao communes in Sin Ho District, Lai Chau Province, in the hope of bringing a warmer winter to disadvantaged children in these northwestern highland communities.
After travelling from Hanoi the previous day and staying overnight in the district centre, the volunteer group set out at 5:00 a.m. amid the biting cold of the high mountains to reach the planned gift-distribution locations. Navigating steep mountain passes with sharp hairpin bends, followed by several kilometres on foot, we made our way to the preschool sites in Sa De Phin and Ta Ngao communes.

Receiving gifts directly from the benefactors, the children and their parents were surprised and moved, while their eyes shone with joy. The gifts seemed to ease the bitter cold of these majestic high mountains.

According to local teachers, most residents are from ethnic minority communities and continue to face significant hardship, as agriculture is their primary source of livelihood. More than 60% of households in the communes remain classified as poor. School facilities, accommodation and learning equipment for the children are still severely limited. When daily meals remain a concern, celebrating a full and joyful Lunar New Year is still a distant hope for many families. The gifts delivered through this programme were practical and meaningful, providing added encouragement to families and students alike.

In addition to gifts including clothing, scarves, hats, sweets and school supplies, members of the volunteer group joined parents in repairing facilities at the preschools. We hoped that this small contribution would help ease the burden on the children’s families and schools, especially as the Lunar New Year approached.
